I would like to thank everyone who has volunteered to help with the parkways closings. Things have gone smoothly up to date and your help is much appreciated.
Fall Rhapsody runs from October 3 to October 19 this year. As a result, the parkways will be closed to traffic from 7:00 to 9:30am on Saturday and Sunday for the three weekends (October 4&5, 11&12 and 18&19). It is important to be off the parkways by 9:30am in order to allow the volunteers to open up the roads to traffic. Remember that using the part of the parkway system for rollerskiing is a privilege and that we must respect the conditions of the agreement for it to be renewed.
As usual, Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5:00 PM to dusk, the North Loop is closed off to vehicular traffic. Unlike the summertime where the gates are re-opened at 8:00 PM, rollerskiers and rollerbladers must be off the parkway before dusk. This is a safety measure for the athletes and the volunteers and as the season goes on, the opening will become earlier and earlier.
