The field was stocked full of Americans since their Supertour races scheduled for Bozeman Montana were cancelled due to lack of snow. This made for an exciting race, featuring 15 second interval starts. The men and women were all out on the course together which also added to the excitement.
Karl was the sole man for XCOttawa. He was 18th Canadian and 30th overall in the Senior Men's category. He felt that it was a good start to the season and that given previous experience, he is looking forward to improved results over the next few weeks.
In the Senior Women's category, Megan and Sheila raced to 12th and 14th Canadian respectively (28th and 30th overall). They were both pretty happy with how they felt and are also excited to test themselves again next week against this highly competitive field.
Finally, our Junior Woman, Adele Lay raced her first ever distance race at altitude and persevered through the pain to finish a strong 5th place among the Canadian juniors (7th overall).
Next week's races have been moved from Whistler to here (Sovereign Lakes and Silver Star) so we are all staying put and preparing for a mass start skate race on Thursday, a classic sprint on Friday and a short distance classic race on Sunday.
Here are some pictures from our ski today (Adele went for a run so she missed the pictures).
