You may have already heard the rumour that Lafleur de la Capitale, the company that grooms the Gatineau Park and looks after the trails, was going to make a loop of man made snow. You may have heard that it was going to be 1.5km long, that there would be a sprint race held on that loop and that this miracle of technology was going to take place Nov. 22nd.

Well it's all true, except the date. The schedule has been moved back a week due to our current warm weather.

Here are all the details from Linda Landry of Chelsea Nordiq, Lafleur Sprint Organizer...

Sorry for keeping you all on hold!! We were hoping for colder weather to make snow for the event and had to wait until the last minute. Given the current balmy conditions and intense rains, Rob Lafleur will attempt to make snow at the start of next week, with the cold front coming to town.

The Lafleur Sprints are scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 30th at 11:00 am, at Breton Beach, Lac Philippe, in Gatineau Park.

Registration will be from 9:00 - 10:00 am.

Thanks to all who are helping out! This should be a fun pre-season event, hosted by Lafleur de la Capitale Inc. Imagine a 1.5 km track of manmade snow... Come a little earlier and bring skis!

Linda Landry, Chair Chelsea Nordiq
