On the final day of our training camp at Montmorency we did a 10km time trial around the 1km loop of made snow.  The stadium was up and running on the last day (due to snow making and natural snow overnight) so we started at the race hut, did a sharp right hand corner then did 10 laps of the course, finishing back up at the start area.

Ready to race.

check out the new suits!

Kyle grinning at the finish.

Anna finishing strong.  The frosted tree tops made the scenery even more beautiful.

Everyone had a good time in the race and was happy to be going fast on snow again.  I defiantly noticed that by the third day on snow I was remembering how to ski again.  It usually takes a couple of sessions to get your body used to skiing on snow, no matter how much rollerskiing you end up doing in the summer and fall.

And the Results...
1st in the Open Women- Anna G-W  35min 51sec.

Men
1- Matthias 31min 41sec
2- Colin 31 min 43sec
3- Lee 32min 33sec
4- Kyle 32min 35sec

The mens field stayed together for the first 5 laps or so them broke into two groups, me and Colin leading and Lee John and Kyle chasing.  These groups stayed about the same till the end leading to some good sprint finishes in the stadium.  We were all on our rock skis so our 10km times were a bit slower than usual, and ski speeds were inconsistent.

Despite our efforts to recruit more women to join the trip (and the race) Anna was forced to do the time trial on her own.  She finished and exclaimed "I feel so much better than last year and its only the beginning!"  Well done Anna toughing out those 10 laps!...  not to mention living with 4 dudes all weekend.

The time trial was great way to finish what was a memorable weekend.  Thanks again to Foret Montmorency for being such great hosts and for building a remarkably good loop considering the unseasonable warm and un-snowy early ski season they've had.
