E Load/E Mend XC Ottawa Duathlon

Come try a Pursuit at Night!

7pm, Thursday March 4th, 2009 at Nakkertok South

XC Ottawa will be hosting a race at Nakkertok Nordic Center sponsored by E Load energy drink E Mend recovery drink at 7pm on Thursday March 4th. The race format will be a pursuit.

How a pursuit (duathlon) works: there will be two continuous portions: one classic leg followed immediately by one skate leg. There will be a transition zone in between, where you exchange your skis and poles.

Pursuit (or duathlon) is a regular part of the Olympics and World Championships circuit and is becoming more popular at domestic and even local levels.

Come on out and try it!!! Don't worry if you don't have the special 'pursuit' boots-most people don't have them! Just use your skating boots. It makes the classic feel a little bit funny, but it's manageable.

  • Given that we will be using only the lit trails at Nakkertok, you can be sure that the loops will be short and (hopefully!) simple.

Location:Nakkertok Nordic Centre (Nakkertok South). Directions and maps at http://english.nakkertok.ca/driving-directions.
