Margarita Gorbounova is an experienced Para-Nordic athlete with vision impairment who lives and trains in Ottawa, Ontario. Margarita raced at the 2010 Vancouver Paralympics and wants to be one of the Canadian Para-Nordic team members at the 2014 Sochi Paralympics.

To accomplish this she is looking for one or more guide skiers (i.e.: training/racing partners). She would like to train with this/these person(s) 2-3 times a week on rollerskis and later on snow and then go on to race with them this winter. A guide skier should be at least 10-15% faster than the racer they guide and ideally, should also have racing experience.

Visually impaired Para-Nordic athletes and their guides compete as a team in ski races but do not have to be the same gender. The races listed below are in Margarita’s plans for this season and funding support to assist with expenses is typically available to a dedicated ski guide:

  • IPC World Cup races in the USA: Jan. 24 to Feb. 5, 2012,
  • Ontario Cup races
  • Ontario ParaSport Games in Huntsville, ON: Feb. 24-26, 2012
  • National Championships: March 17-24, 2012
