Yesterday XC Ottawa skied the Skiathlon here at Callaghan Valley. It was a mixed bag of performances for the team, but everyone agreed that it was a challenging and fun course! Callaghan being the Olympic venue makes everything feel very high performance. I particularly enjoyed putting my skis on the exchange mat that was stamped with the Vancouver 2010 logo and the Olympic rings.

Our waxers were hard at work all day preparing both sets of skis for glide and grip. The women were first to go out racing 7.5km Classic followed but 7.5km skate. In our team results of note were Megan who finished 11th and Sheila with finished 13th. Also Alana Thomas previous member of XC Ottawa had a fantastic performance and finished 3rd!

After the girl's race we changed and then headed out to help feed the guys on their 30km Skiathlon. Feeding was actually quite fun as we were able to keep close tabs on how the race was unfolding. Great performance were put down by Matthias and Karl who worked together to finish 18th and 19th. As well Lee had an outstanding race finishing 22nd and Logan in 32nd.

Today we went and skied the sprint course and everyone seems super pumped to race tomorrow!
