An Unbalanced Diet

Being a part-time student and a full time skier means you don’t have a lot of time for extravagances in the kitchen but here at the “Claymor” house, I think I’m fortunate to enough to enjoy many top of the line home made meals! It’s easy to underestimate the power of nutrition and a balanced diet...
HOWEVER, This is not going to be one of those articles where I tell you about all the good food you could be eating but probably don’t have time to actually make!
THIS is an article where I share some tasty high calorie meals and some awkward “action shots” of some ski team members indulging in some prime recovery calories! So enjoy my culinary tour but BE WARNED, many of these dishes are not for the faint of heart and I wouldn’t recommend you base your weekly diet on them! (Although you  it might be a pleasant few weeks before your heart gives out...)

To start: Breakfast, most important meal of the day people! Fried Eggs, and Italian spiced tomato. Get some of those pancakes with fruit sauce in there too because they're delicious (and throw some brownie with cheesecake and fruit on the top in there too for that final kick).

Second Breakfast is for when you wake up to do intervals and get home feeling Hangry (a ferocious type of hunger).

Logan Potter here showing us how it’s done with the fried egg-bagel sandwich for lunch.

Never underestimate the power of the sandwich press! This instrument is almost but not quite as important as the holy barbecue.

Shawarma: The slightly healthier alternative to other fast food! (Pretend like you didn't see the cola and fries.) We've made this ourselves but this picture is obviously Shawarma Prince....

This, is not an example of a healthy alternative... but after a week of exams sometimes you have do something a little crazy! I wont pretend like I didn't enjoy every second of it.

This is Lindsey, she occasionally drops by and bakes something special! On this particular day, she made cupcakes but we learned that bacon cupcakes sound cooler than they actually taste...

Supper: It's meals like this one that shout: LIFE IS GOOD! What more could a man ask for than a steak and beer? Maybe a baked potato and a Caeser salad?!

Again here; similar but with some pretty special ingredients such as a Vesta garden salad, Peter Bruschetta, Lee mashed potatoes and Caribou courtesy of Kyle! (From Labrador!)

Here is some home made pizza pitas we made recently. If you don't know what Sriracha sauce is, check it out on your next grocery run. This stuff packs some heat but tastes amazing and makes even the worst student food edible!

Just in case it was starting to sound too good to be true, I've included this typical Claymor meal. The STIRFRY! These come in all shapes and sizes and definitely make up a sizable portion of our weekly suppers (not unlike how I imagine most university student do). Other house favorites not pictured are; Yellow Curry, Spaghetti with veggie and meat sauce, the famous Claymor home made burgers and fajita night!

Now hopefully I've made you hungry, go make yourself something tasty! Maybe you'll be able to use one of our ideas for future inspiration!

Thanks for reading!
