Several XC Ottawa student-athletes who attend Carleton University had the chance to race at the OUA championships in North Bay last weekend; here is a quick rundown on what happened!
For those of you who are not good at remembering acronyms, OUA stands for “Ontario University Athletics” and Carleton has a history of success at these yearly championships. Nipissing University hosted the three days of races in a special format termed the “Tour de Nipissing” which consisted of a prologue on Friday at the on-campus trails, a team sprint on Saturday in downtown North Bay, and finally a pursuit start on Sunday at the North Bay Nordic Trails.
Conditions were very challenging for the ravens on the first day of the tour, racing the 6km individual start race in near zero and wet snow. Despite not having the best kick wax, Carleton still pulled off several solid performances:

Day 2 consisted of a a team sprint qualifier and final in downtown North Bay. A fairly flat course combined with high winds made the visibility quite low which added to the excitement! Carleton managed to bounce back from Fridays results and capture several more top positions!
