Skiers from near and as far as ever a puffin flew, got to experience some falling weather during the third day at ski nationals being held here at the Blow Me Down Cross-Country Ski Centre in Cornerbrook. Today was the third race, a mid-distance skate race (15k for open men, and 10k for open women), and XC Ottawa raced in a very competitive field. They found that the saying"(you) can't change the wind b'y..but (you) sure can adjust them sails me son" can be very true in the windy conditions Cornerbrook had to offer on this gusty day. In some parts of the course, racers were quite literally, getting blown down!

Ingrid's epic icicle!

First up, was the open women's 10k race. The top XCOttawa finisher was Liza, in 31st place. Sheila, Kyla, and Holly were 52nd, 56st, and 65th respectively, and Katie rounded up the XCOttawa women in 103rd. Results for the race can be found here. Mike and Justin, our talented wax technicians, used Vauhti HF blue hard wax and blackfox glider to make our skis super speedy.

Kyla working with Alex Slobodian from Nakkertok.

Next up, was the open men's 15k race. The top XCOttawa finisher was Steffan, cracking the top 30 in 29th place (It must have been all the green pizza he had, the day before for St. Patty's day!). Karl was 44th, Andre 61st, and Riel rounded up the XCOttawa women in 73rd place. Results for the race can be found here.

Karl looking good in the 15k.

A huge shout out to the amazing volunteers at ski nationals! This event would not be possible without you, and we want to thank for all your hard work! (also, nice St. Patty's day costumes!)

Tomorrow is a rest day for XCOttawa. Here's to hoping that the wind aways blows in our backs for the next race!
