Looking for a way to enjoy the bountiful snow? The Silver Spoon Cross-Country Ski Fest held on Saturday February 7 has something for everyone: competitive races, participation events, and the fast and furious ski-skating knock-outs. Add to that beautifully groomed trails, friendly marshals at every junction, and pure joy in crossing the finish line – what’s not to like? Skiers new to the sport can experience the thrill in the 1.5 km Participation Mass Start, or any of the Open categories.

Located in Deep River, a small town just 2 hours west of Ottawa, the Silver Spoon offers a superbly organised race along with scenic ski trails. Whether you have been skiing for years or just strapped on your first pair this year, there is an event for you! The Silver Spoon is part of the National Capital District race circuit, which attracts many keen skiers from clubs in the Ottawa area. It's a thrill for both competitive and recreational skiers. And whether racer or volunteer, everyone benefits from fresh air, beautiful forest, and camaraderie.

Registration is now open for the Silver Spoon 2015. The entry form can be found at the Silver Spoon website. Hard copy forms can be mailed (P.O box 999, Deep River, ON, K0J 1P0) by Wednesday February 4. Registration can be done more conveniently online through Sportstats at https://secure.eventsonline.ca/ca/events.php with entry name "Silver Spoon" (a small processing fee applies).

A delicious roast beef buffet with desserts will be served at the Bear's Den in the evening of February 7, follow by a special awards ceremony. Tickets are available through registration. Adult buffet tickets are $28, children ages 6 to 12 are $16, and children 5 and under are free. The deadline for tickets is also Wednesday February 4.
