Hello skiing friends,

We do hope you can make it to our upcoming event at the Museum of Civilization on Tuesday November 22. We have a great event planned in support of the Canadian Ski Museum, and the Canadian Ski Hall of Fame, to be held in the Marius Barbeau Salon and the adjacent theatre (past the Imax theatre on the main level.) ( Event Poster PDF )

The evening includes some light food refreshments, a social time to catch up with your skiing friends, a classic ski film "Fifty" by Warren Miller, and auctions both silent and live to get you ready for the ski season. The evening begins at 6PM, with the movie shown in two parts. The first part will start at 6:45, with a gap for social time, the silent auctions, and to hold the live auctions, and then the conclusion of the film will be shown. Throughout the evening, a cash bar will be available.

Warren Miller's film is a recap of the highlights of the first 50 years of his filming. It shows the early vehicles and cameras used, and progresses to the current technologies and helicopter platforms. Canadian venues at Whistler/Blackcomb, and in heli-skiing country in the Canadian Rockies are prominently covered.

In the silent auction, great values are available for items ranging from ski accessories and clothing, to local restaurants, to a home spa basket, to a gourmet meal and Bed and Breakfast stay, to ski lift tickets and ski trip packages, with something for every taste and budget. In the live auction, look for a great heli-ski package, for a ski vacation in the B.C. Interior, for a limited edition print created especially for the Canadian Alpine Ski Team, and other wonderful items. John Rodenburg of BOB-FM will be auctioneer, and will ensure a lively event for all.

I have attached a ski poster for the event, and would ask that you pass on this information to your skiing friends who are near you and may not have an internet connection. Why not make up a group and come together to enjoy the fun? Tickets are available for purchase at Tommy and Lefebvre stores, or at Kunstadt Sports. They are also available at the Canadian Museum of Civilization. Please purchase your tickets in advance.

This is a fun evening in a fantastic venue. Come out to start the season off in the proper spirit, with friends in the skiing community. Your participation will support the Canadian Ski Museum in our mission to preserve and present the fabulous stories of the people and equipment that shaped the sport we so enjoy, and enriched our lives and culture by providing incredible enjoyment in our Northern winters.

Please find attached an event poster (PDF) and spread the word to your friends and work associates, and come join the fun on Tuesday November 22 at the Museum of Civilization.

Kindest Regards,
