This year's weather has not been kind to local skiers! Unfortunately we will be cancelling the Boxing Day Burnoff since Nakkertok has no snow and nothing promising in the forecast.

Once again, join families, fast folks, and little ski fiends at the 2015 Boxing Day Burnoff at Nakkertok Nordic. Come on out to this fun-first race and team up with a partner against all challengers. This year, we’re keeping things semi-traditional, with a sprint relay format.
Race Format: Sprint Relay. You may all know how this works, but you team up with one other person, and you each do three laps of a sprint course, alternating laps by tagging off to your other member between each lap. We will be asking our intrepid and expert course groomers to design the most creative, innovative, challenging, and fun sprint course possible. Teams: Please try and show up with a team (two people), but if you show up solo, we’ll make best efforts to team you up (not necessarily with someone your own speed!).
Categories: We will have three categories, relating to age and/or perceived ability. Each category will ski a separate course – there will be one short, flattish course, one medium/tough course, and one course that we have not even imagined in our heads.
Technique: ***********CLASSIC**************
Who: Everyone and anyone is welcome to participate, whether you’ve raced before or watched your kids race. Some people may be going fast, but others will be staggering under the weight of prodigious turkey consumption the previous night.
When: Boxing Day, December 26th. Please be there by at least 9:30 to register. The races will start at 10:00 – shorter ones first.
Where: Nakkertok Nordic Centre
Registration: Register on the day-of, at the Nordic Centre Cabin, or register on Zone4.ca in advance. Please try and be registered between 8:00 and 9:30. Cost: $5 per person or $10 per team. Please try and bring the right amount of money – our ability to make change will be limited!
Costumes: Please. Outrageous preferred, and team themed would be great. Prizes: We’ll come up with something great… we always do! We will also try and have a costume prize.
Volunteering: Really? THAT would be awesome. Track down Tom or Ed or the registration/start crew when you get there.
Conditions: Like most, this race is snow-dependent! We’ll post a cancellation notice once it seems impossible that we’ll get snow – so if you’re wondering, check the Nakkertok or XC Ottawa sites. See you there!
