Nakkertok's Candy Cane Cup this Weekend!

Nakkertok Nordic is experiencing some of the best December skiing in recent history, thanks to a new snowmaking system that created Nakkertok’s Extended Season Snow Loop (NESSL - made possible by Kraft Heinz Project Play) and Mother Nature. The Club has finally been able to host December “on-snow” practices for athletes, and even held an open time trial last weekend (results here).

But that’s not all! This weekend the club is hosting the Candy Cane Cup, a fun 3 km/5 km skate ski event open to all, and the Club’s popular Boxing Day Burnoff event (which is renowned for  many cancellations and sketchy ski conditions) is also a go. . . a 3-person relay - so start thinking about your team (and costume) now!

This weekend’s CANDY CANE CUP is a test for holding a high-level early season race on NESSL, a real possibility since Nakkertok now benefits from snowmaking and is easy access  for many clubs in the region and beyond.

Thanks Nakkertok - your enormous volunteer efforts to get a snowmaking system in place in just 3.5 months, and hosting three events in December benefits the entire Ottawa Gatineau ski community!
