Please be advised that the North Loop (P8-P9) will be closed to vehicular traffic and open to rollerskiers, inline skaters, cyclists, longboarders, runners, etc. on WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY evenings throughout this fall season.

Thank you to volunteers from Chelsea Nordiq, Nakkertok and XC Chelsea Masters for taking care of weekday evening closures throughout this spring and summer. Great to have a new group of volunteers (XCCM) come forward to help, and so well organized.

To XCZone and, yet again, Chelsea Nordiq: much appreciated-in-advance for volunteering to cover Tu/Wed this fall.

And, as always, a huge thank you to John Fahey for housing the equipment and eternal good humour.

Saturday/Sunday Short Loops: ("Mica" - intersection of Gatineau and Champlain Pkwys. - to P9) will be closed from 6:00 to 11:00 a.m., and the North Loop until 1:00 p. m..

  • 6 am to 11 am: Gatineau Parkway between Champlain Parkway and Chemin du Lac-Meech (4.7 kilometres)
  • 6 am to 1 pm: Gatineau Parkway between parking lots P8 and P9 (3.5 kilometres)

WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY: From September 3, 2017

  • 6pm to dusk (~8pm): A total of 3.5 kilometres north of Chemin du Lac-Meech (parking lot P8). This section is ideal for families with young children.

Not sure how the usual Fall Rhapsody program will change these times in late Sept., early October - will update.

The entire parkway system will be closed for the winter at 5:00 on Sunday, October 22.

Please remember:

  • If you arrive at the North Loop on a Tuesday/Thursday, and the parkway is NOT closed to traffic, DO NOT proceed to rollerski on the open road. Wait for the parkway to be closed; if no-one comes, then go for a run or something but don't rollerski.

  • ALWAYS wear a helmet if you are using this facility.

  • Please say thank-you to the committed volunteers who are opening and closing the roads.
