2020 CSM Wax guess

Lots of fresh snow for this year's CSM!

We can make some guesses about the tracks - soft! The weather forecasts (Lachute, Mont-Tremblant) is calling for more snow Friday (20-30cm), then cold nights (-17C Fri, -23C Sun) with highs of -14C Sat and -10C Sun.

There's a lot of track to groom in a short time, and with all that fresh snow crews will be working overtime to get it compacted. The cold nights will help things firm up a bit, but expect the tracks to get very soft, and really soft on uphills. The views along the course should be spectacular!

Guesses about wax..

Glide: Green. (Or LF/HF green if you want more speed!)

Grip: Binder (Vauhti AT or Rode black) + cushion layer under foot + green cover.

Why the cushion layer? When the tracks are really soft, the ski camber is less effective and you need a softer wax to handle the snow that is spreading out underfoot as you compress the ski. But that softer cushion layer needs to be covered so no ice builds up!

In this case you would use a medium cold hard wax cushion layer like Vauhti Tar Minus, Vauhti k15 or Vauhti carrot or Rode blue. Cover this with a cold wax like Vauhti K21, Vauhti Green or Rode Green.

Loosing wax along the way due to wear should be minimal. Seeing your skis and the skiing in general a little toug...but that's the CSM!

Best of luck and enjoy the CSM Weekend. Looking forward to hearing all the stories!
