This weekend is a date on the calendar that we have all been
looking forward to. No, it's not because we're all looking forward to
seeing the Bear's defense stop Manning from getting his Super Bowl
title (even though I am looking forward to that too), it's the Eastern
Canadian Championship weekend.
These Nordic ski races are being held at Relais Plain Air in Gatineau, Quebec. People from all over the country will be flocking to the Gatineau to participate in this prestigious race. It is also an Ontario University qualifying race so there will be many university skiers in town racing as well. Ed and Gavin, our two university skiers will be out on the trails but look for them in their Carleton gear!

Saturday, the races kick start with an individual start classic
race. The men will be doing a 10km loop and the women will be doing
7.5km. Sunday will be a mass start skate race, 30km for the men and
15km for the women. The race courses use parts of trails #5, 15, 26 and 29.
It looks like the weather will be a little warmer than it has been all week which will be great for the racing and spectating. We look forward to seeing everyone out. XC-Ottawa will be there in full force, the first race this season that every team member will be racing. It should be quite a battle...
