Description:

It was raining earlier this week up in Muskoka where I have been spending a lot of my time getting ready for two of the largest wakeboard competitions of this year. I had a lot of energy and felt like being creative so I decided to do an endurance/strength/balance/fun workout. I'll explain how I used my wakeboard equipment in the circuit.

It started off with an easy run joined by my wakeboard buddy Lara for about 45 min down my friends twisty cottage road. We had to dodge the cars when they came around the narrow corners and got soaked a couple of times as they drove through puddles.

Next up was the short strength circuit. It started out with chin up reps on the wakeboard Boat tower (see image below), and chin-up hip-pullovers. Chin-up hip-pullovers are a gymnastics move, you do a regular chin-up then throw your legs around the tower so you spin up and have your stomach resting on the bar.

Then balance component. We took the wakeskate (which is a wakeboard without bindings) and put it on top of my friends basketball so it acted as an Indo board. It was pretty tough trying to balance but we both managed to do it.

After that we included a couple of the basic Pekkas strength exercises, the lovely butt crunchers and basic situps and push ups.

The cool down was definitly very effective in more ways than one. We doved into the water and swam around the island for probably about 1km.

Comments:

Overall the rainy day turned out to be quite fun, and by the time it cleared up we were out on the water for an evening wakeboard set.
