As you may have heard on the news a cross country skier died on Friday on trail 1 in Gatineau park. The skier was John Atkinson, our colleague and friend. If you have skied in the Gats you would for sure come across John at some point.

John was a great engineer and avid outdoorsman, and he worked at Nortel and now Ciena. He took Friday off to go and do what he loved, at his most favourite place, Gatineau Park. John was 62 and in absolutely fantastic shape, we have people here at work that run marathons and could not keep up with him.

John did not race, but skied for the love of skiing any chance he could get. John was an encyclopaedia of outdoor knowledge for this era, and knew Gatineau like the palm of his hand, as well as all the canoeing streams in the capital region, rock climbing places and hikes.

Here is the information about Visitation and Funeral services.
