2007 Haywood/NorAm FIS World Championship Trials in Canmore
By: Sheila Kealey (2007/01/26)
Megan, Brian, and I have made a short weekend trip to Canmore for the NorAM FIS World Championship trials races. We've joined Karl and coach John, who have been enjoying the skiing in Canmore since the sprint races last weekend.
Tomorrow we race an individual start skate race (10km for the women; 15km for the men), and Sunday it's a pursuit (classic + skate; 15km for the women and 30km for the men). We checked out the race courses today and the track was hard and fast. The courses are part of the World Cup loops and very challenging.
The already-competitive field has been strengthened by the addition of the U-23 and Junior national team members, who returned from Italy since these races were cancelled due to lack of snow.
The stunning mountain backdrop is impossible to escape from anywhere in Canmore.
Race results will be available at www.zone4.ca.
