Canmore: Men's 30km Mass Sprint

19:16 AND IT'S KUENZEL BY A HAIR! CLAUDIA KUENZEL finishing JUST ONE SECOND in front of her compatriot VIOLA BAUER!!

19:16 THIRD PLACE IS DOWN TO THE TWO GERMANS BAUER AND KUENZEL: As they near the finish line it's going to be tight.....

19:15 Julija Tchepalova takes second, and now it's a SPRINT FOR THIRD PLACE!

19:14 TCHEPALOVA KEEPS CLOSING AS THEY BLAST DOWN THE FINAL DOWNHILL..... SCOTT TURNS BACK, TO SEE HOW SHE'S DOING RUSSIAN CLOSING..... BUT THE GAP IS TO BIG!!!!!! SCOTT IS GOING TO GO SECOND IN THE WORLD CUP TABLE!!!!

19:13 THE CANADIANS LOUDLY SUPPORTING THEIR GIRL AND WAVING THE BANNER!!!! TCHEPALOVA STILL RIGHT BEHIND!!

19:13 JULIA TCHPALOVA WITH BRILLIANT SPEED AROUND THE TURN IS CLOSING THE GAP: Brilliant piece of downhill skiing, and she is right behind the Canadian with SCOTT IN HER SITES!!

19:10 KRISTIN STEIRA, 1.3 seconds off of Bauer's pace, has moved in front of RENNER now, as a double-Canadian podium is looking less and less likely.

19:10 VIOLA BAUER leads the chase group 51.2 seconds back, as CLAUDIA KUENZEL has dropped into eighth!

19:08 SCOTT GAINS BREATHING ROOM WITH 2K LEFT: Beckie Scott has a full 8.2 seconds on Julija Tchepalova now, as the Canadian, is closer and closer to another home victory.

19:06 CANADA'S RENNER just 0.3 seconds behind CLAUDIA KUENZEL with a chance to add a second Candian to the podium to join Scott who will surely finish in the TOP-TWO at this point!

19:05 And within that huge chasing pack it's a race for third, as the women find themselves a LONG WAY BACK! A full 46 seconds to be exact, as Kuenzel still leads that chasing pack......

19:04 CLOSER AND CLOSER TOWARD THE FINISH LINE..... Julija Tchepalova won't let go of Beckie Scott as they enter the final lap...... INCREDIBLY TIGHT 3.1 SECOND DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO!

18:59 BECKIE SCOTT HAS A CHANCE TO OVERTAKE TCHEPALOVA IN THE WORLD CUP RACE AND MOVE INTO SECOND BEHIND MARIT BJOERGEN. IF she can just maintain her lead here, the Canadian can win her second race in two weeks, and possibly move into second in the overall World Cup standings.

18:59 The chasing group coming through now..... KUENZEL LEADS CHASE GROUP BUT STILL A FULL 39.2 SECONDS BACK!

18:57 TCHEPALOVA LOSES GROUND ON SCOTT, with about five kilometres left, Scott opens up a 5.6 second lead on the Russian.

18:57 KUENZEL INTO FOURTH, halfway through this race, the German heads the final chasing group, as Rocheva has put some space between herself and the German, but is still 20 seconds behind the leaders. The altitude, not quite as high as Vernon, is still way up there at 1501 metres at its highest point.

18:54 The front-two have blasted to an incredible lead, Tchepalova is right behind Scott by just a single second. at the half-point!

18:52 Descending into the stadium, those women are speeding around those corners, Tchepalova an Olympic Champion, and Scott inspired by her home snow... what a race.

18:49 Kuenzel has dropped a full 33.9 seconds back, as the head-trio lead the back by a good 20 seconds.

18:48 BECKIE SCOTT opening up a bit of a lead on the Russians after the 6.3km split, as Rotcheva drops 5.8 seconds back with Tchepalova 6.9 back.

18:47 Aurelie Perrillat leads that chase group 16 seconds back with Lina Andresson of Sweden close behind.

18:45 CLAUDIA KUENZEL has dropped back into sixth now, as Renner is down in eighth in that big chasing group, which are all right around 16 seconds back.

18:43 Beckie Scott really starting to take off now, as Tchepalova and Rotcheva are right on her tail, with the chasing group well behind......

18:40 NEWS FLASH: NO. 1 Frenchman and World Pursuit champion Vincent Vittoz will miss today's later race, the 30km mass sprint for the men.

18:38 Olga Rotcheva is right behind her compatriot, and she is closely followed by Canada's Sara Renner as it's Canada and Russia at the top of the current order, with Claudia Kuenzel slightly back in fifth.

18:36 Through the 2000 metre mark here, Beckie Scott looking to take another win on home-turf after her victory in Vernon last week. Julija Tchepalova 1.5 seconds off the Canadian's pace.

18:34 A deathly cold -19°C only hours ago, the temperatures have slightly picked up to just -14°C. Much better if you ask me.

18:32 Twenty-five centi-metres of the good white stuff has fallen over the last four days, as Canadians have taken the early lead in the early goings of this race.

18:32 This is the first time since 1989 that the World Cup has returned to Canmore, the home of the Biathlon and the Cross-Country competitions in Calcary's 1988 Winter Olympics.

18:30 Another beautifully sunny day in Canada as they're off in this wonderful Olympic Nordic Centre.
